Registration:

Deadlines for Initial Registration or Adding a Course to Existing Schedule

Students may register or add a course to an existing schedule during the first week of the session in which it is included:

• Prior to the first meeting of the class including day and time, there are no limitations on a method of registration. Students may register online, in person, via fax, or mail.

For example: the first meeting of the class is on Saturday, 08/29/09 at 9:30 AM. The last chance to register online will be this Saturday, 08/29/09, before 9:30 AM. After 9:30 AM, online registration for this course will not be available.

• After the class has met, students may register only in person or via fax after obtaining the instructor's written permission to register late. The following are acceptable: a signed note, an instructor's signature on the Course Selection Worksheet or Add/Drop form, or an instructor's email directed to the Registrar's Office: Chicago, Schaumburg.

• Deadline for Registering for Courses Online Within Session 8.

Students may continue registering for online courses during the entire first week of the online session. The instructor's permission is not required.

Dropping a Course with a 100% credit/refund; no grade recorded

Students may drop a course online (via RU Access), in person and by fax. Those who are receiving financial aid (loans, grants, or scholarships) must obtain a financial aid officer’s signature on the add/drop form before submitting it to the Registrar’s Office.

Dropping the course online may be completed only during the period in which there is still eligibility for a 100% tuition credit/refund. When the class is dropped by the 100% credit/refund deadline, no grade will be posted to the student's record. Please refer to the link at the top of this page for the specific dates for each session.

Dropping a Course with a partial credit/refund; "W" grade recorded

After the deadline for the 100% credit/refund, students can no longer drop classes via RU Access (online). It may only be done in person, via mail or fax. Students receiving financial aid (loans, grants, or scholarships) must obtain a financial aid officer’s signature on the add/drop form before submitting it to the Registrar’s Office. A grade of "W" will be posted to the student’s record. Please refer to the link at the top of this page for the specific dates for each session.

Thesis Deadlines:

Thesis deadlines change every year, this semester’s deadline is April 1, 2010.

Grad assistant Application Deadline:

Graduate Assistance application is taken in the fall for an assistantship during the spring and following fall.

Scholarship Application Deadline:

Best consideration for scholarships, grants and loans goes to students who complete their financial aid files early. Completing and filing the FAFSA before April 1st is suggested.

AWP DEADLINES

While AWP is the foremost writers conference, there are other conferences, festivals and retreats throughout the year. Since these change so often the best suggestion for searching for one that might be helpful is to go to: www.writersconf.org. You can search by state, date, and genre and it seems to be well maintained and up to date.
